Staying Safe is a project about the Covid-19 pandemic and its affects on my community, bordering Northern Kentucky & Cincinnati. The basis of the project is to capture the quarantined scene - showing how each person is spending their time, along with keeping their unique personality with it.  Each of my photographs follow the safe social distancing guidelines by shooting through a window, doorway and even outside locations. I was able to communicate with my subjects via phone call, or through an open door or window. This work was inspired by Gabriele Galimberti recent quarantine work in Milan Italy, Todd Hiddo’s Intimate Distance, and Sagarkumar Galolia’s bedroom series. Each gave me elements of making these images for Staying Safe. Rather than letting quarantine get the best of me I took this time to create work conceptually documenting this pandemic. Even when times are tough we have to continue to progress but of course cautiously. Let’s stay safe.
